    Getting new comp, need some suggestions

    Planning on getting a new computer, but I'm not sure which of these options will benefit me most in the long run, as I probably won't be getting a new computer after this for a long time. I also want to know if Vista Ultimate is worth the extra money over Vista Home Premium. Here are the four options that I'm thinking of:

    1) Vista Ultimate, Core 2 Duo E6600 (2.4GHz), 2GB DDR2 SDRAM, 256MB nVidia GeForce 7900 GS

    2) Vista Ultimate, Core 2 Duo E6600 (2.4GHz), 4GB DDR2 SDRAM, 256MB nVidia Geforce 7300LE

    3) Vista Ultimate, Core 2 Duo E6700 (2.66GHz), 2GB DDR2 SDRAM, 256MB nVidia GeForce 7300 LE

    4) Vista Home Premium, Core 2 Duo E6700 (2.66GHz), 2GB DDR2 SDRAM, 256MB nVidia GeForce 7900 GS

    Any suggestions from knowledgeable people are appreciated.

      Dell doesn't offer XP anymore except with the XPS 710, which is too expensive and is completely hideous to me.

      For the sound card I'm getting a Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeMusic, and also getting firewire inputs.

      No idea how much memory Dell's mobo supports. I'm sure it has more than one PCIe slots, though, since there's an option for a Physics Accelerator.

          I can tell you right now that my dad won't buy any computer online from anyone except Dell.

              Ultimate probably isn't worth the extra. Well it isn't at all, but 4 looks like the best (for me).

              If you do really memory intensive applications like video editing and stuff, you can upgrade to 4gb ram and DO NOT BUY RAM FROM DELL! They overprice it SO much it is absolutely insane . 4 has the best CPU and Graphics card.

                  Will have a selection and tigerdirect has build your own and always have a good deal with a mail in rebate. Otherwise I am not a real help for where too buy, I build my own.

                          Yeah, when I upgrade individual parts of my computer I always buy from Newegg, or sometimes eBay.

                          I'm probably gonna go with 4 then buy more RAM off of Newegg when I get the money.

                                  Oh and the XP upgrade program has ended, so you are stuck with XP until you buy vista. Just get Vista, there is no reason not to when you buy a new computer.
