As the title reads I need help making a short story. What kind of help? A plot. The story itself is 1.5K+ words and must be at a 10th grade level. It must be fiction and for the love of god nothing about dragons and such. It's due tomarrow so im screwed =).
My first idea was to have a guy going to WWI thinking it would be over by christmass and fun. He later finds out while he watches the people in front of him get suck in the mud then shot (trench warfare) that the war is not quite fun and more brutal. He then runs on in fear of his life and hides from the military trying to punish him for treason.
However my friends on msn think this plot is gay...HELP
This is what I have so far (I will update this every so often):
It was another dim day in Coventry, an industrious town of inland England. Another day in hell I think to myself and I stumble out of bed. I look across the room lit only by a lone candle running low on wax on a nightstand in the corner of the room. My pregnant wife is still sound asleep and my daughter just old enough to walk and talk now laying on a mat on the floor. After I dress myself in what almost looks like rags I drag myself out the door and off to work.
Outside the sun is just beginning to rise behind the think grey clouds and fog putting a gloomy tone over the city. I walk through the empty narrow streets and it almost seems like I’m in a ghost town, not a soul in sight. After a good forty-five minutes of walking.
