I was always under the impression that the current seven wonders of the world are considered "wonders" because they were constructed without the technology we consider completely necessary to build them.
We are amazed by them because we have no ****ing clue how people in those times could have even conceived of such amazing works of architecture.
if the statue of liberty had been made a couple thousand years ago...then it could be cinsidered a wonder imo...
i don't think there's anything wrong with the ones we already have...
Uhm, we're getting new seven wonders because we want to preserve the buildings. I can also bet that more than half of you didn't even bother to read into why they're voting for these buildings and such.
>_> I had a project in art class, involving this, so.. it's pretty annoying, but, really interesting. It's kind of like a "pick 7 out of 21 buildings to preserve" thing.
I haven't voted yet, but I still have time. I'm really curious as to what people want to be kept, and what to basically, not really care about and just let fall. xD But yeah.. this isn't new. If I'm not mistaken, they've been planning to pick the new seven wonders of the world for a long while, over a decade perhaps.
=/ I'm sorry, but, if you guys are all "omfgggg wut abut da oder wunz?!" The old seven wonders, most of them, have been destroyed.
o, but hay, if u wnt 2 c thez stroctorss b distryd, b mi gest!!!
I thought it was the Mausoleum of Halicarnassus (exact or close to spelling), not Mausollus.
Unless there's two names.
And I think the only wonder that's still... "up" is the Great Pyramid of Giza.
