New chit chat name/description?

I think it might not be a bad idea for us to change the name/description of chit chat. First of all, it's at the top, so newbies see if first, and think, oh, talking about Final Fantasy or music production sounds like chit chat to me. Or, some could easily think it is a place to chat, like a chat room, and it's not.

In my opinion, it's description is fine, but it should be moved to near the bottom, so newbies see other things before it, so they should at least see that there's a general video games section before they get to this. Maybe its title could be changed to something more like "Random," "Other," or "Miscellaneous," so newbies wouldn't try to make a chat room out of it as much.

Do you all agree? (I'm not even completely sure if I agree lol) Does anyone have any better ideas of where to move chit chat, what its title should be, or what its description should be?

Makes sense, but it'd be tricky to create a more fitting name without making it more ambiguous.

It's plausible that it could be done, but you still have to worry about dumb newbies, aka those who just post in the wrong forum because they think it's funny. But, none-the-less, I'm pretty sure it could be done. I just don't really like the idea of this forum being moved down to the bottom of the forum.

I think Chit Chat should stay where it is, but it's name/description should just be changed up so that newbies know that it's not "a gaming forum" or "a music forum" or "a spamming forum".

I support this. Especially because newbies post introduction threads in CC too much.

It's pretty common sense that forums have rules, and that they should be read before posting. Same goes for looking at forum lists. The people who post GVG/Newbie Forum/Video Chat/FFR General questions in here CLEARLY lack such common sense and, as such, will post in whatever forum is at the top of the list.

As far as I'm concerned, it's going to happen whatever the name of this forum is.

Chit Chat is already a pretty enveloping forum name. "Miscellaneous", "Random" or "Other" are effectively synonymous, but one advantage CC has over those other names is that it implies things are to be talked about, rather than postwhoring that could easily be seen to fit into the above suggestions.

I realize that those aren't the only viable alternatives, and I'm not completely against a name change for the forum, but I do think that changing the name won't alleviate the problem of improper threads being posted here.

Guido's right. It's obvious people are'nt reading the description if topics like "wat happend 2 my secret songz!!!12" are popping up constantly.
