dumb means you are not able to speak. Stupid is just an insult.

cant get much more on the dime than that, dumb someone just took because it sounded like an insult, dumb means you cant talk.. means people think differently about u, like you are too stupid to talk. I think that when dumb became an insult it is worse than stupid. However, stupid just means not smart, not that bad considering most of the world is illiterate.
