    Class wakeup shock.

    What It means

Prepositions: are words that show the relationship of a noun (or pronoun) to
another word. A prepositional phrase will begin with a preposition and end with a noun. They usually tell where or when, and the sentence still makes
sense if the phrase is removed from the sentence.
EX- The books in my new backpack are heavy.("In" is the preposition, "backpack" the noun.)
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------

Transitional words: connect ideas, pointing out the relationships between
sentences. The answer is how, when, where, why, how long, how much-
and/ or comparison, contrast, degree, time, and/ or cause and effect.
EX-First, I will explain how to find the correct book. (Implies there are other things to explain.) I will paint until Mom comes home, (tells how long)
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------

An adjective clause: modifies a noun or pronoun, an dusually starts with that,
which, who, whom, or whose. It is generally right after the word it is modifying. The sentence still makes sense if the clause is removed.
EX-The girls who had won the relay race thanked their coach.(describes which girls.
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------
An infinitive: is a verb that is used as a noun or adjective and starts with "to". EX- She tried to win. or I hope to learn spanish.
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------
A participial phrase: is a verb ending in "ing" or "ed", includes the modifiers and nouns, and used as an adjective.. The sentence will still make sense if the phrase is removed.EX-Reading the assignment, she took careful notes. ("reaad" is the verb + "ing", "assignment" the noun)
The Children found a note folded in a blue bottle. ("fold" is verb + "ed",
    "bottle" the noun)
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------
An idiom: is commonly used expression, often based on comparisons, that is not literally true.
EX- "She dumped me." Or"My heart is broken."
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------
An analogy: is a comparison of one thing that is similar to another in at least one way.
EX-"A cobra spreads its hood by spreading its neck ribs, much like how you'd open an umbrella."
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------
A metaphor: is a comparison between two unlike things.
EX-"my love is a red, red rose."
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------
A simile: is a comparison between two unlike things using like or as.
EX- "raising tennagers is like nailing jello to a tree."
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------
Trigger events: are important parts of the story "trigger" the next event. Without the trigger events, the plod would not advance. When telling what a story is about, trigger events are the most important "what happened, and then what, and then what" ideas. Foreshadow is to give the reader a hint about what will happen later in the book.
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------

It took me an hour to write this in class, for an essay. When I was in class, and when everything was going on, it just happen, I felt like I had some kindve of spacing out, then I understood everything that was brought up.
This helped me alot, today. I guess I survived a massive essay. I hope you guys congrat me on an me getting an A+!

A 15 year old knows what a 17 covers in AP US history and American voices? I'm shocked cause those classes are for juniors. So where did you really get this info?

Well, I told you. I asked my teacher to be advanced with me. I completey understod it, and started writing, it was weird because, i've never could do such a thing. Oh and I hae a friend that is 17, but he just told me what kind of stuff he does. So I wanted to be just like him, so I asked my teacher for an big advance, she told me "go ahead if you're ready". Im serious.

Well I won't deny it. I have seen a few of my friends exactly like that. I just wish I was a little more like them sometimes. But best of luck to you and your english writings and such. Mabey post a few poems or something on CT?

What the hell, guys. These are basic English terms. It's hard to get any lower of a level than this. You learn these things in seventh grade...

I mean, it's good to see that it's being learned at least at some point, and I offer nothing but congratulations to Aeon for doing this, but still, these are things that everyone should know before starting high school at the latest...

You would still be suprised on the fact that few people know these terms. I have asked a few of my friends about them recently and they all gave me confused looks. Thanks a bunch New York education.

English is a terrible language. I like to think it's the worst in the world. It has ridiculous grammar rules and is made out of two combined languages. Portuguese makes for good competition, but it's no match.
So I hope you feel great the next time you tell some one that their grammar sucks because it's not the person that sucks, it's your own language.

Its kindve seven grade stuff, but not really. Guido you know how people cover the same lessons over and over again, so people don't forgot? I guess they did it, again and made it harder though. Guido I thank for being a great mod.
