I went on my computer today and my start menu was completely gone ive been trying to get it back but can figure it out.. anyone know whats up with it?

If there is a virus running, press CTRL ALT DEL, and turn off the offending thing.
Then delete it in regedit.exe
Then uh, restart.
Or JUST restart.

That doesn't sound like a virus, it sounds like you screwed up your comp somehow. If it is a virus, it sounds pretty bad and there's not much you can do yourself. Is everything else working? I've never heard of a virus that deletes your desktop and nothing else...Comment

sounds like explorer.exe isnt loading for some reason.
1)which OS?
2)have you been playing with MSconfig lately?
If you're using XP or 2000, try this.
Conrtol+alt+delete
Check to see if explorer.exe is running. If it isnt, go to
file>newtask>C:\WINDOWS\EXPLORER.EXE
