"...Your body is the only thing you carry from the moment you are born until your very last breath."
My father and I have seen interesting things today at the exhibition. People from high school and over should go and encounter new things from this. Want to get a good look at the human body? I suggest you take a look at this.
To the exhibition they bring bodies. Yes... real, well preserved bodies from China. You can see EVERYTHING. The muscle, the bones, the organs, the veins the fat and illness. It even tells you about the taste buds.
Me being a bio/med freak I added new things to my knowledge today:
The muscle: They show how much muscle it takes to shoot a basketball, to run and play football. Infront of you, you see the real specimen that you can watch but not touch =) It shows in detail what it would look like if you had no skin on like the layering (voluntary/involuntary).
The skeleton: Showed a lot about the joints (knee, hip, elbow) vertebral column, and the skull.
Nervous system: Spinal nerves, hand, carnial, vagus and lots more.
Illness: Brain-Stroke, Breast-cancer, lung-cancer (all of the specimens had black lungs, go figure).
Digestive system: They showed sagittal dissection (rare view) the abdominal cavity etc.
The Adipose Tissue (which is fat) also with the esophagus and pharynx... the tongue (taste buds). The digestive tracts with the small intestine and the large.
It's just amazing they even show a healthy heart (i held it and boy it's kinda heavy.
Circulatory system i just LOVED.. The segmental bronchi.. The veins (kidney, blood supply to the face and even the body with just the arteries and nothing else).
The Female reproductive: Including the embryonic development (week 1+).
THEY EVEN SHOW SURGICAL TOOLS on a specimen hooozaaaa.
I loved it... here's a site: http://www.bodiestheexhibition.com/
Edit: Forgot to say it was in NYC =)
