Back in my freshman year of high school, i used to skateboard nonstop. But then i went and got an after school job and then my skating time went to nothing. It's now my senior year and i wanna get back to skating again. Does anyone here skate and can give me some ideas on how to make the best of my weekends and what to re-learn?

Re: Skating?
Go to your nearest skate bowl, pop some ollies off, then move on to manuals, then kickflips, then etc. grinds later.
Hope this helps. -
Re: Skating?
Skate parks were always the best for me growing up. Where I grew up we had nothing but a half pipe so I kinda got "thrown to the wolves" while starting to learn. I never got really good or anything but I could at least skate up and down a pipe. Then I stopped for about five years and had to re-learn everything. With the skate park that opened up out of town, I learned everything back pretty quickly, but I lost interest in skating even quicker than the first time and haven't touched anything in a good 5-6 years.
My opinion might not have so much of a baring since I skated before the "OMG T0nEE H4wKz0rz!" phase of skating (skateboards were bigger when I started too), but just the basics of balance, rotation, turning and simple ollies will get the foundation laid down so you can advance those fundamentals into other tricks. But if you skate, then there should be other people in the area who do the same and they should be able to skate with you and get you going again.

Re: Skating?
I'd start with getting your board control back. Then step it up a bit with things you need to just get around with. Like ollies and little snazzy pop shove its. Then when you got that back. Pick up where you left off. I think by stage three most of it'll come back to you.Originally posted by TibsI love you, you Welsh ****Comment

Re: Skating?
The most important thing has not yet been listed, so I will do so:
Skate without being a part of the pathetic "skater omg leik I ware Etnies lolol" group..

Re: Skating?
Yeah, i was never a part of that. Thats why i avoided my local skatepark because there was a bunch of kids that sit down and roll around. There was also a bunch of people that hung out there decked out in "skate" clothes or whatever and never touched a skateboard. I had normal clothes and a pair of es accels. I never agreed with what you wear affects how you skate.
But anyways, i still have ollies and heelflips down, but i still struggle with spins. My front foot is getting the board around faster than my body. Help?**Proud Member of the Breaking AUP Club**

Re: Skating?
No. Be however the hell you want. People who get annoyed at the scene in skating when in actual fact are themselves trying to give off the "all about the skate" image are worse. You need to stop giving a crap. Just go out and enjoy yourself regardless.Last edited by SethSquall; 10-11-2006, 01:13 PM.Originally posted by TibsI love you, you Welsh ****Comment
