Moogy and Laharl, you guys say some weird things somethimes, but I agree with you 100% on this one. Grammaticality is desired in a community forum such as this one. Leet is for the meaningless topics, but when it comes down to serious topics, people need to have something meaningful to say (I know it is hard to think for some of you, but if you don't want to think, don't go into thought-intensive topics).

Don't mess up the topics for us either. Then you have all the higher up people mad at you, because it is those people who have the intellegent topics.

I think that almost everyone uses the AOL abbreviation at one point or another.
I'm not saying that it's okay, nor am I saying that people should be flamed for using it. People should be entitled to their own way of writing on the internet.
I mean, I don't have a problem with it.

SOmetimes, i just don't feel like it. So i get lazy, and screw with my punctuation, and yes, even sometimes abbreviate "you" with "u". But who doesn't every one and a while. But out of complete laziness.....

I've never used it and I make fun of people who do (On IM atleast). Is it really that hard to type 2 more letters? I do use abbreviations in games like EQ where I'm normally kiting something where typing for over 1 second gets my killed and wastes 5+ hours of play time, but not AOL ones. Sometimes I'll use like SCHW instead of Silver Chitin Hand Wraps or omw instead of on my way.... AOL abbreviations are just retarded.

And some are retarded, like *coughbballplayacough* saying 'screw u u r dum', but generally it's just easier and faster. I'm an excellent typist, but I still do it on AIM. I refrain from doing it on the forums because, case in point Larahl, there are numerous people who are gonna read it and some who care.

maybe some things are hard to understand, but punctuation doesnt bother me at all...i have been an advocate of less gay topics where people can actually talk to each other without having someone say something that turns into a flame war...ie the what religion are you thread...firstly i think if people want to talk about it they should have that right...but everyone knows right off the bat it will end in conflict...someone will say "youre christian youre so gay...whay are you that...youre religion is gay...im jewish, rock on jews"...we all need to use our brain a little more when making threads, and not make ones that will be flaming real quickly

Like I said, I can understand it when you're on AIM, where you really are going for speed.

Going for speed on a message board makes you look like an idiot.

I guess it's just a different mentality I have. I like to do things RIGHT, because it's just the way it's supposed to be. I could a) do it poorly and look lesser by doing so or I could b) at least appear to know what the hell I'm doing.

Well, see, I do not have a keyboard. I type using a headset, so abbreviating is impossible for me.

I also play FFR with the headset. My mom thinks I am insane becasue she can hear me yelling out "DOWN DOWN DOWN DOWN, RIGHT, DOWN, UP, LEFT, LEFT, LEFT, RIGHT"...whatever.
