Re: ¿Cómo están Beetches?
Amigo!
בקצה השמיים, ובסוף המדבר, יש מקום רחוק מלא פרחי בר
מקום קטן, עלוב ומשוגע, מקום רחוק מקום לדאגה
יש אומרים שם שמשיקרה וחושבים אל כל מה שקרה
אלוהים שם יושב ורואה ושומר אל כל משברא
אסור לקטוף את פרחי הגן
אסור לקטוף את פרחי הגן

Re: ¿Cómo están Beetches?
Fortunately, the vosotros form is only used in Spain. I hate that form and from what I could tell of it (my teacher never taught it to us because even spain "ustedes" is understood to be as you guys) it can be really wierd.
ps welcome back

Re: ¿Cómo están Beetches?
I know. I know. But that's what I'm taught. . My family never uses it of course, cause we're from Mexico. But still, it was interesting when I was first introducted to vosotros, because I had never, in my life, heard that word before. Huge WTF moment. (7th grade)Comment

Re: ¿Cómo están Beetches?
I think it's great that it exists, because having a second person singular subject is always better for clarification, but I MUCH prefer the Spanish of Mexico and Latinoamerica to that of Spain, so I hope to never use it as well.
Also, yes, I edited the title.

Re: ¿Cómo están Beetches?
Vosotros is second person plural unless I misread what you wrote. >.<
Anyway, fun fact: in South American/Central American countries they may use "vos" instead of "tú". It has the same meaning, but it changes around some of the verb forms. It's still understood though if you use the normal tú form, at least from what I can tell from my experience.Comment

Re: ¿Cómo están Beetches?
That's what I was saying. I'm glad vosotros exists because without it you have an entire subject that has to be accounted by subjects with different meanings.
It's a carryover from Latin.Anyway, fun fact: in South American/Central American countries they may use "vos" instead of "tú". It has the same meaning, but it changes around some of the verb forms. It's still understood though if you use the normal tú form, at least from what I can tell from my experience.
Veritas Liberabit Vos <--SMU's, uh, motto, I guess.
