Computer help is needed....

ok so here's the problem. I cannot get on my email account or facebook whenever i try to log on. Everytime i try to it keeps coming up as the page cannot be found. Also my computer is not letting me play ffr.
so here is the information. I am using windows xp with IE on dial-up. anything else you need to know??? please reply iff you think you can help.

If you're using dial-up the connection is probably timing out.

Tell your parents to move beyond the 1980s.

Timeouts mean your connection to the server is taking too long, so they stop trying.

Basically, it means dial-up sucks.

i havent had that problem with my email account of ahyting else i need to sign on to bfore though

Well, when you're on Cable, it means that the server is just not responding to your request to retrieve data from it.

On dial-up it can mean anything from the above example to your connection just being how dial-up is.

If a server is busy, it's going to happen fairly often.

It doesn't always happen. The problem with Facebook is probably being caused by the MASSIVE increase in information flow from that site. My parents have dial-up, too. You have to refresh a lot and it's just a big pain.

I'm pretty sure that AOL highspeed dial-up and Verizon DSL are the same price anymore.
