I'm trying to install windows on the new computer we put together, but every time we get to the setup screen where it says "Installing windows" in orange on the right, It keeps getting a cyclic redundancy check error.
Exact error (from the second time we tried after reformating the hard drive again):
-------------
Error:
Installation Failed: D:\1386\asms. Error Message: Data error (cyclic redundancy check).
***
Fatal Error:
One of the components that Windows needs to continue setup could not be installed.
Data error (cyclic redundancy check).
If you are installing from a CD, there might be a problem with the disc; tru cleaning the disc or using another disc.
...(installing from network stuff)...
--------
We tried starting over from scratch, and it still gave us the error, which makes me think there's a problem with the disc that we're trying to install from.
I've also checked wikipedia and some other sources, but they really don't say anything about this circumstance. I really don't want to have to wait another week for another CD to ship in again. If there's something I might have missed, PLEASE TELL ME.
