I have a miscellaneous, yet very serious question to ask as to discover the actual pronunciation of the name Hansel as in Hansel and Gretel. i could have might as well looked it up in Google, but i would rather post it here out of sheer boredom.
This may as well be an opinion-based topic, because i've already asked several people, and everyone had their own way of pronouncing it.
Should it be pronounced:
*HAHN-sel
or
*HAND-sel

HAN-sel as in HAND. omg guys
