    Spelling

Why do people spell words wrong on this forum or any forum? What I mean is when people use "u" for "you", "r" for "are", and a bunch of other misspellings for words. Did, the people who do this, flunk spelling in school? This is a forum, you have all the time in the world to spell words correctly. If this were chat, then fine, I guess you do have to type fast and any words you can shorten is ok. But for a forum, it just shows that you do not know how to spell. Somethings are ok, such as, LOL, because you can't laugh without someone hearing you. Please people, im tired of reading a post that says "WTF U R an idiot". You are an idiot if you cant spell "you" or "are". Also, if you dont know how to spell a word right, LOOK IT UP. Damn people, don't you have a dictionary in your house? You can open up a Word document and see if the word your tring to spell is correct. Alright, who is going to call me a spelling nazi?

Well, Many people that are (r) typing on the forums don't like wasting time( a.k.a. They're lazy) but typing the word shorthand is like slang...
When people talk slang they say things that probably aren't real words. I just doesn't take as long for them to say it.

This is not an acceptable excuse. Assuming one types 30 words per minute, which is pretty frigging slow, the difference between 'r' and 'are' is a matter of perhaps a half a second. Ditto for 'u' and 'you'.

And in some cases, there is absolutely no difference at all between the two--I allude to 'lol' and 'hah' or 'heh'. They are the exact same length and both sport the same beginning and ending letter. There is no reason whatsoever to use lol. Ditto to ROTFL or LMAO. If you're really laughing that hard, there's always AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA. It's two letters. Nobody cares what it starts and ends in. Everybody understands that you're laughing.

The only abbreviations that are acceptable are severe abbreviations, such as IIRC for If I Remember Correctly.
      You fail.

        sure it is.
        Just kidding(jk)
Now that I think about it that is very true but that is also the reason why people go on the internet, to be able to write in not complete and basiacally structured sentances.
But if the people in question have know knoledge of the keyboard and its features can type incredibly slow.

But still, its not like someone is timed to type a post on a forum. For example, if it took me 30 words per minute (wow thats slow), I could still be able to spell words/look them up. It is not an excuse to say "Well people know what im talking about". Well people might not know what your talking about. IIRC, ROFL, LOL, WTF, WTH, WWCYFD, and other short hand/slang terms are terms that some people know. If you can't write a post with out using short hand/slang, then your going to have a hard time in school or other areas of the world where you need to spell the whole word, i.e.; formal letters, formal reports, or any other business related items. Yes, forums are not formal, but still, you should write out the word you are useing or dont use that word at all.

Yes, maybe I do know what you mean in your post, but would it kill you to spell out the word you are using.

then there should b no problem.
Like right here for example, would it really take that much time to put an "e" after the "b". This is what im talking about. When you guys say you are smarter than someone else and in your post you use 4, b, r, u as words, how does that make you smarter than someone else?

This isn't so much an understanding issue as it is a respect and courtesy issue. Considering that people are trained from the time they are small children to write coherant sentences and read well written ones (the poorly written sentences are supposed to be the exception, not the rule), it is only a common courtesy to write in a focused, expected manner. It also shows some semblance of basic respect--in essense, I respect you as a member of society enough that I'm going to take the extra 5 or 10 seconds to type correctly so you can read it easily. There is no quicker way to piss someone off than to force them to read a post three or four times so they can get a meaningful point out of it.

Certain acronyms DO present an impediment to understanding, but that's another discussion altogether.
