well... a few people know that a few weeks ago my dad had heart surgery to replace a valve in his heart that was malfunctioning. He is recovering great, but slowly. About 2 weeks ago i went to my doctor for a routine physical so i could participate in school sports. My doctor found a heart murmur, which is what my dad originally had, so that got me worried, who wouldnt be. But my doctor told me that it was very common for childeren to have heart murmur's. Well, today i am surfing the net during study hall *right now* and i search for heart murmurs. I find out that the heart murmur's are common in 2 - 4 year olds! and last time i checked, im 15. so now im freaked. i am schedualed for a EKG on november 20th and i found this out...
oh yeah, thats great to know
and today, my chest has been hurting and i feel like crap
is this cause for alarm?
HELP!
Some heart murmurs may indicate a problem with the heart. If your child's doctor suspects something other than an innocent heart murmur, he or she will refer your child to a pediatric cardiologist, who will order or perform additional tests such as a chest X-ray, an EKG (an electrocardiogram), or an echocardiogram.
