This totally reminded me of a time when a friend and I went back to our Jr. High to pick up my brother and talk with a teacher both of us hadn't seen in a while. She was really nice. Anyways, they day before, my friend bought me lunch and I had to pay him back, and I got out of the car and payed him when he walked up to my car. We shuffled around my car then went over to his car to check it out, when the SRO came out and told us that a "concerned parent" had seen us exchange money, and asked us to empty our pockets. Nothing bad, just my wallet, keys, and a butterscotch candy. (Wallet and Keys for my friend.) So, we said our goodbyes and went on our ways.
Just so you know, guys, Aasum is right; cops can't force you to empty your pockets unless they have unquestionable reason to believe that you have something illegal.
You simply have to calmly insist "I don't consent to any searches." Regardless of whether or not you actually have anything illegal on you, it's good not to have to empty your pockets and have your space violated.
Since you guys are talking about being arrested(not really) by the cops, here is a video that shows you how to use your amendments the right way and avoid getting arrested.
They may have had probable cause, RaiRai. The kids were running, and the cop asked "What are you doing?" FlourescentArmy never told us what they said, he just cut to the part about having to put his hands on the car. It's very likely they were breaking curfew, and they have the right to assume you were doing something wrong by breaking curfew, and that gives them probable cause to search them.

I didn't say that part because I didn't say it. I didn't really say anything during the whole ordeal. My friend (Cody) Said that we were "Playing with some fireworks." So he made us put our hands on the car and empty our pockets. And yes that guy was a total dick. He was like 7 feet tall and fat. And it looked like he used a rock for a razor. Im just happy he didn't cite us for disturbing the peace.
And yes. Steak-ums are good. Better with ketchup. Best with shredded mozerella (sp).
btw no one cared but the police officer that we were out that late. And the gay thing is. Right down the street were some more kids and they looked like they were smoking. And the place where I was at's curfew is 10 PM. Where I am at home it's like Midnight. =/

Wrong. A hunch =/= probable cause. They have to see something.
