    I need some advice

    Since I am moving away and going to a different college, my mom has decided to buy me a laptop so I dont have to lug around my huge-ass tower. I've never really given much thought into laptops so I am asking ya'll which brands/models I should consider.

    Right now the only thing that comes to mind is the Apple MacBook. But you know...that'd me I'd have to "switch" and I am a creature of habit and all, so I dont know how well I will fair with that.

      I hear good things about Dell XPS notebooks. I just ordered the smallest model they have a few days ago to replace my three year old Inspiron. They're a tad expensive, though. If you want a cheaper one that's still reliable, a new Dell Inspiron is pretty decent.

      I know nothing about Macs...

          Laptops = expensive rocks.

          At least in my experience anyway. If you aren't going to be playing games on it and you're just going to be using it for your college duties then go ahead i guess.

              I plan on using it as I do my home computer: for multimedia, internet, and school work purposes.

                          I got an HP Pavillion laptop for my freshman year. I've had no problems with it. Plus it came with a built in webcam, and microphone! It was orginally 1,500 but I got it for 1,000.

                          The new HP's come with a duel processor.

                          My friend has the new apple laptop. No problems with it either.

                          Personally, I would pay a little extra, especially if you're going to use it a decent amount.

                              Dude get a Dell.

                              Really, though. I've used 2 of their laptops as my own (the first one had to be sent back because it belonged to a business, but ordered another one). You can get good warrantys(i don't think I spelled that correctly, whatev) and you can customize them to be whatever you want them to be. Plus the XPSs are pretty cool looking. I love Dells.

                                          Most likely. If Grossmont ever gives me the information I need to sign up for the classes I need...or something.

                                          ps. I'll look into Dell and IBM, but I'll be honest with you all, I'm itching to switch.
