    Re: FFR Trivia!

We did have it on intermediate at one point here.

Also, I am very confident that it wouldn't be just me. The questions were laughably easy on Intermediate, for the most part.

It's been on Intermediate since Tass changed it back from all that Mixed Bag we had.

Then Tass went and dropped off the face of the earth.

        Re: FFR Trivia!

It's been pretty good here on intermediate; we've had a nice distribution of scores. When the people who often top the board have days where they only get four or six but usually eight to ten, that shows that it's a competition of knowledge and not speed.

Why you would want it on easy is beyond me...

Personally, I prefer Mixed Bag, but we've got far too many whiners here to do that...

Guido, we really don't know what easy may hold for us. Some of the questions on intermediate are laughably easy, but there's a lot of crap on there that I've never heard of in my life, nor do I ever see myself knowing anyway.

We could try it, but I don't really think it does need to be changed. That's my personal opinion.

Fine. You know the old schoolyard rules. If I don't like what you're doing, I'll make my own moon! With blackjack! And hookers!

FFR Trivia 2. Easy questions. And a host who actually plays, so the topic can change once in a while.

I won't play it until tomorrow, so go nuts.

No. At least I know how to type.

I'll feel bad if the future of the human race depends on my knowledge of the name of some random village in some random town in some random country and I get it wrong, but when we're all just guessing at these things and the winners are those who have luck on their side, I couldn't care less.

This doesn't make any sense, though. If it's on easy then everyone will be getting nine and ten right, so it WILL be a battle of who's fastest.

As it is right now, or with mixed bag, the questions reward knowledge (trivial knowledge, =O ) with points. Those who don't know the answers to worse. There will be guessing, and you can never eliminate that, but it rarely outperforms real knowledge.

                      2. A city in India or a popular curry dish ?

                      The correct answer was Madras.
Madras is one of the principal ports of India. It is on the Bay of Bengal. (report correction)
I like questions like this that trick you. I chose Bombay, because it is, in fact, a city in India.

ps i dont actually like questions that trick you

                      3. Belgium is a kingdom. Do you know the name of our current king?

                      You correctly answered Albert II.
Baudoin II does not exist, Baudoin I died in 1993 as reigning king for 42 years... (report correction)
                      luck <3

                      6. Elvis works in the busiest port in Europe but he doesn't mind because here he is also able to indulge in delicious cheeses.

                      The correct answer was Rotterdam.
Rotterdam is in Holland which produces delicious cheeses like Gouda and Edam. (report correction)
                      uh wtf?

                      8. What does TTTT stand for?

You correctly answered To Tell The Truth. (report correction)
Because TTTT could never stand for anything else. Yeah, the topic was Internet chat or something, but those things to have slightly different meanings sometimes (lol=lots of love?).

                      9. During his trip to some Spanish cities, John Wayne avoided going into mountainous areas. This led to the observation: 'the Wayne in Spain stays mainly on the plain'.

The correct answer was My Fair Lady.
                      'Rain'. (report correction)
Was this from a John Wayne movie or something? The topic was really ambiguous and I had no idea what it was talking about.

                        Re: FFR Trivia!

It was a line from a movie called My Fair Lady. I haven't seen it in a while but it's about a commoner living in Victorian times and she's taken in by a noble/upper class gentleman who trains her to speak and act "ladylike". To overcome her commoner accent the phrase "The rain in Spain stays mainly on the plain," was repeated and practiced until the man and woman broke out in song about it.

What does that have to do with John Wayne?

@nforcer: obviously, you should do the quiz before reading new posts anyway.

I don't think the question was directed at John Wayne to begin with. I think it was just used as a fictitious example to see if you could recognize the misquote from My Fair Lady. We'd know if it had the little question topic in your quote, but we don't so I'm just making educated guesses.
