I've noticed, in the times that I've posted, and the reading of threads that there is a lot of flaming goin' on.... Down right hostile.... What's up with that? Why is it that so many people here feel the need to claim superiority to others? *sigh*

The following is pretty in depth. If you don't have the intestinal fortitude to read your own books for English classes, I suggest you stop now.

One of the recurring problems with the general population that I find is thier amazing arrogance and unwillingness to ever admit a fault. If you confront people directly and rationally about this, however, they simply put on a happy face and say 'Oh no, I laugh at myself all the time, etc. etc...' you get nowhere. So, before bringing up the point, I use the approach of acting like an even bigger arrogant bastard than they are. This dares them to rise to the challenge and creates a pattern that you can later point out in rational arguments.

Arch0wl is a perfect example in the sense that he's risen to the challenge of dealing with an arrogant troll because he has the arrogance to think he's able to change his mind. I've established a pattern with my lines of argumentation in that he has refused to concede one point to me, no matter how true one particular point may be (this is not to say all my points were good ones--the bullshit factory was running thick).

So now I take off my mask and simply ask if we can agree that he has a problem.

You can pick and tear at the various holes in this plan--I'm well aware there are some--but I've yet to come up with a better idea. If you have a better one, I'm all ears. I don't always get results, but even if the person still refuses to admit it, I at least have given them cold hard evidence of the fault which will remain.

So that's the truth. No, I'm not better than everyone here--in all honesty, people here are probably about equal in most ways, and definately peers in the eyes of society. I may not RESPECT some people, like bballplaya, but that doesn't make me better than him.

The question that's probably festering in your mind is "Why did you come here? Do you go searching for people on the internet?" No. As you guessed, Laharl is the one that showed me these forums to begin with. I checked around them a little bit and found a number of people who seemed to be potential targets. So I came. A job knocked, and I responded. It was as simple as that.

As for your second point, I'm not really hitting on all cylindars recently. I haven't heard from my fiancee in a week (we typically talk every day), and quite frankly, it has me worried sick.

Hmm.... I don't really remember any specific instances of excessive flaming done by archowl.... Thunderclaw, I was thinking about the thread made towards you. You said Trolling(n). Should it be Trolling(v)?
Most all that you do by "putting on your mask" I guess, is that you make people mad at you. But maybe I'm just not comprehending the full scope of your plan...
I just realized... Trolling can be used as both a noun and a verb... I usually just associate gerunds with verbs, as I'm sure many people do. But I'm even more sure that many people don't know what a gerund is.... Oh well...

The entire point of the plan is to get people mad and aroused because it brings out the entire point I'm isolating. You can talk to 50 arrogant idiots and not know it just because you never offended them.

Ah, ok... I get what you're saying.... Same situation with some of my "friends" and my parents... Never really knew them to be anything but nice people, but I found out how bigoted some of them are. But don't you think there may be some negative repercussions for it?

People flame for two reasons:

1. Somebody is being stupid/n00bish. (ex: AO)
2. To be noticed and superior.

I don't flame often, but if somebody deserves it I have no problem telling them to shove off this site. The main reason you see flames on these forums are b/c ppl like AO and meowculchu exists. And it's kinda frustrating to keep answering the same questions like "how do you buy songs at the FFR store" or "how many fingers do you use to play FFR" so after so long of trying to be helpful and posting FAQs that apparently nobody seems to read, you snap.

The other kind of flaming is what I like call n00b-style or AO-style flaming. It really has nothing to do with the thread or any factual it's just random "I can beat u @ n e thing lol omg u sux0r" etc. It's painful to see these ppl actually allowed to take part on the forums.
