    Fdisk?

Okay I need to know how the hell to fdisk.

I tried reformatting my PC like any normal person would, inserting the WinXP Pro CD, restarted the computer set the boot sequence in the bios to first load the CDROM, then hardrive. I then tried booting it from the CD, and it all goes well until it says "Press Enter to Install Windows" or whatever. So I press enter and that stupid message "Windows did not detect any hard drive connected to your PC. Make sure your hard drive is blah blah blah blah". I've check my hard drive and it obviously loads up fine. So now I remember somone once telling me fdisking totally erases the harddrive. I don't know how to fdisk. Any help?

      Re: Fdisk?

The problem is that you have SATA drives. I had the same problem. Try this first:

Enter your Bios and look for drive configuration. Windows does not recover in that format. Try to change them to ATA/IDE format.

I'll edit more as I find it.

PS - You only use this format for recovery. Turn it back for normal use. If you don't you get BSOD'd.
