I need help thinking of one. A mysterious computer ailment, that is.
See, my parents do not know that I bought a shiny new Compaq computer...last August. They think I still have a clunky, obsolete and often-diseased Toshiba. This will be a problem in June when I go to visit them for more than 24 hours and cannot be without my computer. (10 days, you understand? I cannot be away from my baby!)
I've already decided to tell them it's Mike's computer that I borrowed because he is a) in Europe and b) his is an HP and they know it's significantly different-looking from mine.
The question is, why did I borrow his computer instead of bringing my own? This is where the mysterious computer ailment comes in. It is problematic, though, because
a) it is no longer under warranty, therefore I cannot just leave it at some repair center here like I've done before, and
b) my dad is a computer dude-kinda-thing, and if there was something really really wrong with the computer and I did not have it under warranty (see a) he would be the one I go to in order to get it fixed. All the more reason for it to be there with me, see? and also...
c) I love my computer very very much. I would not want to be away from it for very long, and my family knows this. It is deeply ingrained in our genetics.
So...by June 12 or so I need a plausible explanation as to why I am not bringing my own computer, and it has to be a reason that is not easily fixed, does not result in my dad requiring me to bring the computer home, and is easily enough fixed that I won't require a new one, as they a) won't buy me one and although I'll whine about it, I am not really expecting them to even offer it as a possibility, and b) if they are willing to buy me one they're not just going to hand me the money, so I'd have to buy a computer, and then we're at point zero again because I'd have two computers, only this time they'd both work and I'd be really really messed up as to what to do.
My life is so retardedly difficult sometimes. And it's all my fault.
