Just as a question, how many people in here have an interest in the Japanese language? I'm taking it in High School and was curious to see if anyone else was, as well.
I love the japanese language... but I really don't want to have to write it so I'm taking german.
I know a little japanese btw, not much. Self taught and all.
The hard part is getting the symbols learned. After that the grammar constructs are so amazingly simple compared to English's analretentive construction that you really just have to glance at it and that's that.
I feel really sorry for Japanese and Chinese that learn English, though. Not only do you have an entirely new character set to learn (the alphabet), but you have grammar constructs to bash your head on.
I have studied Japanese for 4 years. plan to learn more languages though. I know both Hiragana and Katakana and I know a significient amount of Kanji. Kanji seems to be the hardest for me, but I learned most of my Kanji from my phone. (yeah, I bought a phone from Japan, and I know it doesn't work here, but at least I got a cool phone!!!) I can take pics and stuff with it, but I can call anyone.
How long have you been studying Japanese Laharl?
ok now lets think has anybody heard of........... shaman king........naruto.............Rurouni Kenshin...........One Peice.......Sand Land? all of those are good and Gundam Wing rox and i hate Dragon Ball Z and Shonen Jump is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
LMAO, has anyone heard of Yami no Matsuei, or Prince of Tennis? also good, but I want to see who the real otakus are.

Like I've said a few times, I'm in my 4th right now. I'm going to take it when I get to college, as well.
Kanji is tough at first, yeah. I'm getting the hang of it, though. Once you figure out the radicals, it's just a matter of being able to remember how you make whatever specific kanji it is. (You can think of what individual radicals make it up. It does help.)
