Man, I have no idea what I was thinking, but I decided to reformat my computer tonight. And by reformat, I mean totally erase everything on my harddrive and do a clean install of Windows XP pro. The bios on my motherboard is not compatible with my Samsung harddrive so I ran Disk Manager and whatever. Then I loaded up the XP installation CD.
I went through the entire process but upon rebooting, where the GUI should kick in, nothing happens. I know little to nothing about computers, but I definately dont remember XP being such a bitch to install the first time through. So, any ideas as to what might be the problem? Should I set the CMOS to load the HDD First? Should I stick with loading the CDROM first? Perhaps it is a problem with my XP CD? I mean, I didnt exactly buy it and it isnt the same CD I used the first time I installed XP onto my computer.
So, any clues as to what to do would be apperciated.
Man, I feel like 87x.
ps. I booted my system with Knoppix 3.6 and I was really suprised at how smooth and fast everything ran. I have an external harddrive with all my documents, movies and mp3s. I picked some random videos to run (which I had to install countless codecs and programs to run on windows) and they booted right up. I was really impressed. If this whole Windows thing doesnt work out, I'll probably switch over to Linux.
