    ipod help

i was just wondering if anyone knew how to put music videos or movies on to an ipod without paying for it. Do the files have to be mpeg 4 and if so, what is the best way to format it to an mpeg 4

      RE: ipod help

that's not real help for an ipod, I need REAL help on my ipod.......

my hold button is set to off but it's still on, and since I can't put my hold button off, I can't turn on my ipod.......so whether I turn it on or off, it's always going to be on hold, I can still connect it to my computer and add stuff to it but I still won't be able to do anything on the ipod itself with the hold button like that

        Did you jam it?

Try pushing it back and forth a few times...

you might have to either a) open it
or b) take it to an apple store

Or, if you switch it back and forth quickly a few times until it's not on hold, then press and hold the middle button and upper wheel button, that fixes all of my problems.

Anyway, Button, your ipod is fucked. Try the responses above. If that doesn't work, take it to the store. If that doesn't work. Sell it on ebay as working. Depending on what Version it is, you will get between $75 - $200 for it.

Idiots, don't give advice if you don't know what you're talking about (87x). "Your ipod is fucked," followed by instructions to participate in auction fraud, are hardly considered legitimate technical help.

What version do you have? Assuming it's not a mini or a 5th Gen, this process should be fairly simple. Have you ever had to crack open your iPod to, say, replace the battery? I did it on mine about a year back. Normally replacement batteries ship with two little poker things that let you crack open your iPod case. I'm not telling you to blow $30 on a battery kit just for the pokers, but you could try flathead screwdrivers or anything with a long, flat, thin stem. You can get instructions on how to crack it open here. Once you've got it open, you can either slide the switch normally, or just take the damn thing out completely.
