    Fencing

To me, fencing is a really fun and active sport (you get to play with swords, YAY!). My brother and I do fencing; my bro does sabre (thats how you spell it, French is the main language) and I do Epee. Anybody do fencing, and if not, are you interested? BTW I'm a juinor fencier (I went for probably 2 years, but I never went to a competition).

Oh, I fenced Foil for a little while. Good fun. I quit by accident, sadly.

      RE: Fencing

      Thats sad.

I have a great communitry. There is this one guy (pro, goes to competitions) who makes jokes, extremely hard in fencing (sudden movements, twitches, etc.; hitting him once gets high praise) and stuff. He's cool, but sometimes he treats me like a /b/itch, but I don't care.

        RE: Fencing

I don't fence, but around NC State there are some fencing clubs. Sometimes while I'm walking around I'll see people practicing in fields and such. It's coo~.

Closest thing I've done to swordfighting of any kind is just like, playing around with sticks and stickfighting with friends. In my experience with that, I'm fairly certain that I really suck at swordfighting. *shrug* Oh well.
So I've gone completely slack-ass and haven't done any work on creating games. =(

In less-depressing news, I got a job for an online business (which sells non-electronic games, of all things!) which has taught me a lot about marketing online and all that jazz.

So now I'm on Twitter @NoahWright.
And I write the blog for their website.

Plus I do cool programming in-house that you'll never see. =O

I don't fence but I know a bunch of people that do... The sad thing is that they are girls and can probably beat my ass at fencing. Now I'm sad....

Try fencing with plastic lightsabers. And by fencing I mean beat the living crap out of each other.

3 years ago I died from blood loss in a freak accident involving a broken foil, so I quit.

Fencing is really fun when you stop just swinging the thing around in a pathetic attempt to look like you're actually doing a technique, and start actually having the physical prowess and reflexes to parry attacks.

Only did it for about a month and a half. It was good times when your opponent wasn't the annoying guy that always charged straight at you. The teacher had this really irritating move that he beat everyone with where he flicked his foil, and it bent so much that it went over your head and hit your back. It was like, impossible to dodge or block or anything because it was such a fast and unorthodox move for us.

While I've never been in the kind of physical shape I'd need to be in to actually be good at fencing, it sounds like an exciting sport, where even the smallest mistake can lead to defeat. But it isn't so much the physical aspects that interest me as much as the mental game.

To me, learning to fence well is an exercise in strategy as well as observation and staying one step ahead of your opponent. It's basically like chess, but with swords instead of hunks of plastic on a board. Yet somehow both activities are equally amusing, at least to me.

The one thing holding me back, however, is that I might want to "practice" on people... <_<

It looks like lots of fun, but i dont know any clubs or anything around where I live that does that.

That and my parents might think weirdly of me if I tell them I want to partake in such a sport.

I don't fence, but I know someone who does. He tends to go batshit crazy whenever someone says, "fencing isn't a sport" to him. I don't really want to turn out like him =\

I also spend to much time doing other sports, like skiing.
