    The MPA

    Hello everyone.

I'm a not-so frequent FFR user, but I did just play it in civics today. Close enough.

Anyways, MPA. The Music Publishers Association. .

Any guitar players here should have heard of this. See, the MPA is cracking down on , what they call, "illegal" tabs. For you non-music folk, ill break it down.
    Guitar six strings.
    A tab shows six bars.
Figure out the rest, eh? Anyway, tabs are a way of learning music on the guitar. So our opinion, as musicians, think this is not right. See, the MPA thinks people take songs from magazines, band's websites, etc. and put them in this tab form and submit them to a community where people can download them. This is not true. People make this tabs by their ear, and put them in tab form, and submit them to a community.
    Not. Napster. Don't confuse.

To put it simply, this organization has the wrong opinion about this guitar sheet music on the internet, and want to make it all illegal. This is wrong.

So I ask of all you to please sign this petition. We need all the help we can get.

If you know of a community or website that shares this music, DO NOT SAY THE NAME OF IT! PLEASE.

    Thank you.

You could also learn to read real music.

But regardless, I'm not too worried about tablature disappearing from the internet.

I can read real music, but not close to well.

      Not worried? Think again.

I know of 3 websites, which shall remain nameless, completely shut down. Not by the MPA, but by fear. Well, at least other people are thinking differently.

Regardless of whether that makes a difference or not (not), music/movie/tv episode sharing (aka illegal download) has gone on forever on the internet, and this shouldn't be any different. Kind of stupid to ban tablature outright, though.
