How do I make IE my default web browser?

Firefox took over. I swear I told it no when it asked to be numba wan browsa!, but it apparently thought I said yes and now every link I click opens stuff in Firefox. I am fully aware that some of you will think it's funny to come in here and be like "FF > IE, I don't see the problem lol" but I don't want FF to be number one, mainly because FF refuses to open things in a new window and will instead move away from windows I already had open (WHICH IS VERY ANNOYING TO ME). Sometimes I will use FF, but for now IE needs to be my main man.

Thing is, I looked in IE's options, and the only thing I could see about making it the default was a little box that was like "Should IE check to see if it's the default?" that was already checked. I figured that meant that IE would pop up a box like FF did asking to be #1 awesome browser dude, but so far it hasn't. It's probably something really obvious, but I can't seem to see the option to make it default. I even tried Open With...ing something and saying to make IE always open links, but FF is still the default browser.

or you could just right-click "open link in new tab"
whenever you click a link, like I do.

there's a setting in the options for ff that always opens remote links in a new tab, or you can even make it a new window if you like.

Most-times IE will ask if you want to make it your default web-browser when you open it up.

Just change that option in the Advanced section. Fixes the annoyance. Or, try un-installing FF, setting IE as a default in it's options, then re-install FF and when it asks to be default browser, say no. or something.

When you click on a link, go into FF first and press Ctrl+T, then click the link.

Go into firefox options, and there should be a box that asks if it should check to see if it's the default browser, which probably overrides IE's (I'm guessing) If that's checked, just uncheck it.

You can make stuff open in new windows/tabs like talisman said. But, if you really don't want to use FF, then I know how to make IE your default browser, for real, instead of the other solutions others suggested.

Open IE and click the tools menu. Choose "Reset Web Settings". Let it do its thing. Your default browser will be IE within seconds.

yea or you could find and click set as my default browser which is somewhere in options.

Smitty, it's not in the options. That's why he nor anybody else could find it.

EDIT @ Moogy: That works for Firefox. Not IE.

Um. Options > General > Firefox should check to see if it is the default browser when starting up.
