Sounds like all the "Internet Optimizers". Never heard of the program, but I doubt it is doing much, if not actually SLOWING the computer.

Nonono, you should run it. And if your computer seems slower and you seem to be getting a lot more popups than usual, run it again and that'll fix it.

Also, Alt+F4 is a shortcut to win the internet.

To take the place of tnyhwk:

Basically, any program that takes up system resources (that would be processor power and RAM) will not speed up the function of your computer. Every single program takes up system resources. The only thing that can speed up the operation of your computer is using, say, a different OS (or obviously upgrading). If you downloaded this then I would honestly not trust you to overclock your computer. By using system resources you are effectively slowing your computer.

Programs that claim to boost processor speed (and aren't clocks) never work. All they do is fill your computer with spyware or worse, slowing down your operation pretty thoroughly (and, of course, potentially wrecking your computer). Programs that control clock speed can speed up your computer a little tiny bit, but I would avoid doing so.

            Signature subject to change.

            THE ZERRRRRG.

Did you really have to ask us? It would seem obvious to most people.

Sounds like someone is sore from falling from the ol'Alt+F4 trick.
