    Power Outages Rock

So today, I was taking a shower before work, and while i'm in the shower, the power goes out. It's only for about 10 seconds, but it was really werid.

So I get to work, and find out that they too lost power for those 10 seconds, but it wasn't that big of a deal because everything came back on just fine.

So I got to work at 2, at 3:45 I decide to take a quick break, just to have a little drink. I head back to my department at 3:50, and I don't even get one sentence out of my mouth before the power goes out.

    DUN DUN DUNNNNNNNN

So for about 30 seconds, the store was pitch black (btw, I work in a grocery store (meat department to be more specific)). The generaters kicked in after that. We had a few customers still waiting, and since our scales were hooked up to the generaters, we could still do buisness.

However, our of all refridgerators are NOT working. So after about 10-15 minutes, we realize it's not coming back on right away. At this point, we take our freezer paper (That we wrap stuff in for customers) and we have to cover all of the open cases in the store. You know how there are those refriderated shelves? We had to cover ALL of them in the store. It was insane, there was so much to do.

After we got those all covered, we started to pull our meat and seafood cases, to put them in our back freezer which is colder and can maintain that tempurature for much longer. Even after we put stuff away, people still wanted crap, which was annoying. Come on, the power is our, our scales are off (even though they work ) why can't you take a hint!

We then proceeded to clean our entire area, and with the 3 of us cleaning things went FAST.

Now, I was schedualed til 8:30, but our manager said "Ok, your department can go home", so the 3 of us got out at 6:20. 40 minutes early for the one guy, 2 hours early for me, and 2 hours late for the one guy (He supervised us I guess )

So, when I get home, I come to find our cable is out. It's the weridest thing too. For a while, every 8 minutes the cable would come back on for 1-2 minutes (just enough time for me to sign on and get out one instant message) and would go down again. This continued for like, ever. I called Adelphia and they said they were working on it.

So, I had to watch Family Guy on a broadcast TV, since the cable was out. It was still a good episode though

So, now the Internet and Cable is back up, and I am once again a Happy Camper.

Ya'll should move to California. Our power outages are only caused by our poor economy! Thanks Enron!

I used to work at Pizza Hut taking phone orders, and one time the entire shopping center lost power while I was working. We had no backup power. All the pizzas in the oven? Wasted. All the orders we'd taken? Unable to follow through. All the people attempting to get a call through to order? Out of luck.

The crazy manager who always took advantage of me gave me the unfortunate job of calling all the customers back (on her cell phone) to tell them we couldn't give them the pizza they were expecting. I hate being the bearer of bad news
