    The FFR Folding@Home Team

    ATTENTION:

A new team password number has been added. If you have started the program with the old number, switch it now.

This is something I would really like to get going. It's simple to set up, simple to operate and helps save lives.

I see many people make threads about friends and family members who have struggled with cancer and other awful things. This is our chance at FFR to help scientists unravel codes and understand many of these diseases such as cancer, HIV, Alzheimer’s etc...

Basically it is a small program you download that receives codes from scientist’s, works on them and sends it back to the scientists. Millions of people are folding making a massive difference. Breakthroughs have already happened because of normal pc’s users folding information.

Running this program does not affect the performance of your computer CPU speed or bandwidth.

Here is a flash movie that gives you a bit more information. (Click)

If you decide you want to take part and help here is the program.

    NT/2000/XP (Save as)
    Windhttows 98/ME (Save as)
    Linux Console(x86) (Save as)
    Mac OS X (Save as)

Once the program is running, right click the icon in systray go to configure and enter team number 46984 and your name hit ok, and that’s it!

You don't have to do anything else.

While you’re sat on your lazy asses you're helping to cure cancer and other nasty things.

Let’s see how much data we can crunch, we have enough members to do extremely well!

Click here for our statistics. (it will grow as we get more people folding!) The member’s part will update and list everyone who finished a task and uploads the info back. This happens automatically.

For more info on Folding go to http://folding.stanford.edu/

    Issues -

    * Cpu usage will show 99% while folding. This is because it uses the resources you're not. F@H will ALWAYS make way for any other tasks that the CPU needs.
    * Some games will boot you back to desktop if you don't pause then quit the folding program.
    * WU Finishing times can get silly, some will say it will take months to complete. Ignore it, the time will go down eventually. If after a few days it doesn't reboot the prog.
    * You will only appear on the team table once a work unit has been completed. (Give it a few hours once a WU is done to appear)

    Fin.

    For people that do fold.....

Don't use something below 1.0Ghz for the Processor & make sure you have a psu 300watt's above, and a good quality one.

Post this somewhere like Gaia where thousands of people will see this in a matter of seconds.

Just don't get attached to the people there.

Too bad 5 seconds after I post it, it would travel 5 pages.

lol I don't see how that's even possible. At least in madly populated forums like GD and CB...

Not that I can join, as I use a laptop.... but why would we join EBaumsworld's group, instead of having our own? I'm a proud supporter of their site, but still... we're our own group.

So, should a fellow moderator/admin care to make a group of our own and edit the first page, it'd probably be beneficial.

It doesn't look like many people are interested...

This is a FREE download, and it will cause no harm to your computer what so ever. The only problem it may cause is boot you out of Stepmania while you're playing it, but all you have to do is pause the program and unpause when you're finished.

Or if you are on a laptop, it will cause it to superheat, making the fan a useless piece of junk that will eventually stop working, and then you cant do ANYTHING - no F@H no stepmania, no nothing

Last year my friend installed the folding program on every computer in our Java class.
As for me, my comp at home is only 600 megahertz.
