I got a new car on Sunday. '98 Saturn SL 1. It is so awesome you guys don't understand First off, 40 miles to the gallon. City. 42 highway. All parts on it are easy to change, bumpers are 10 bucks, side paneling is 30.. easy fixes. Price? 2,250. Yea.. that's right. I know some people on this site have better cars, but hell, for my first car I don't expect to get something amazing. This car is great for me. I'll post some pictures later.

Make sure you get a good job done - some aftermarket parts fall apart practically immediately and make your car look worse than when it started.

Actually, don't be surprised if your gas mileage is much lower than that once you start driving it around since the gas mileage averages are well over 40 years out of date (the conditions in which they test are out of date; no A/C/Heat, highway speed of 48 mphs, etc).

None the less, it is better gas mileage than most other cars on the road.

Well my mom gets 33 in her cavalier...so 40 for a normal car doesn't sound too high.

I have a 1993 Civic that gets the same exact gas mileage, has 160k miles on it, and no rust whatsoever (or any other outstanding problems).
