RE: Re: RE: new computer hardware spec recomendations?

I seriously need to take a comp hardware class or find a really good internet tutorial about upgrading and modding computers. I'm a pretty decent C++ programmer but once it gets to the physical parts, I'm almost completely in the dark.

PCI express is what future cards will interface with? That really helps (not sarcasm).

What really gets me is how to compare cards from the same vendor. I mean, as long as they follow a number system like 6200, 6600 6800... etc. I'm (hopefully safely) assuming the higher numbers are better. But when they throw X's and FX's and GT's and crap in there, I don't know what takes priority. Is an FX card better than any other non-FX card? I wish they'd give you a breakdown of highest class - lowest class cards. It's really confusing when every description for EVERY card is "lifelike 3d graphics, a powerful, fast card to meet your highest gaming requirements." or some crap like that.

Another question for you guys, should I go with getting a card factory installed or get a cheap (non -ntegrated) factory card and buy the good one seperate and install it myself? Which would be cheaper or easier?

again, thanks for all the help, these answers have taken care of quite a few questions I had.
