RE: Remember 9/11
Good of you to start that thread ONE HOUR before the day is over.
Maybe if you didn't completely forget about it until you watched the 11:00 news, I'd take what you post seriously.
Oh well.
And as someone who moved to NYC less than a year after 9/11/01, I get alot of discussion and conversation about 9/11. You, a kid who was probably 9 or 10 years old when it happened, have NO CLUE the effect of it on the nation and the world.
It angers me that a thread like this, this late in the day, comes from someone like you. You just have no clue kid. None.RIPComment

RE: Re: RE: Remember 9/11
My roommate realized the day at like, 3am and alerted me to it. I remembered, but uh, I don't keep track of the date.
And I remember when it happened. 9th grade, biology class. Some kid walked in and said a plane had hit one of the towers. When they said this, I imagined a private plane being flown by some stupid drunk dude with half a pilot's license accidentally hitting the building and doing barely any damage. In that class we turned the TV on for the televised school announcements that the media class does. The channel they appear on happened to be a news channel, so before the news we saw a the first tower being hit, with smoke all over it. We saw a replay of the plane hitting, and we were all quite worried. By the time the announcements were over, the 2nd plane had hit the tower. Our Biology teacher was a workoholic, though, and made us do work and not watch.
Next class was English, and our teacher was like "this is history, screw schoolwork." So we watched replay after replay on the news and discussed it. Crazy stuff...I don't think I'll ever forget that day... =\So I've gone completely slack-ass and haven't done any work on creating games. =(
In less-depressing news, I got a job for an online business (which sells non-electronic games, of all things!) which has taught me a lot about marketing online and all that jazz.
So now I'm on Twitter @NoahWright.
And I write the blog for their website.
Plus I do cool programming in-house that you'll never see. =OComment

RE: Re: RE: Remember 9/11
The loudspeaker came on in my class and my principal had a grave voice. It was then that I started hoping that we were out of school, but alas, the school stayed in session the whole day.
It was a tragedy.

Yeah, I had no idea how bad it really was until the next day really. But those were my initial thoughts. =/Comment

RE: Re: RE: Remember 9/11
tassle, if you're so caring about the 9/11, why didn't You put up a remember 9/11 thread??
and as for remembering things, who actually thinks to remember things such as D-day, and all the people bombed in hiroshima and nagasaki that helped to end WWII
or how about pearl harbor being bombedto start the smae war
how about a thread to remember our veterans on veterans day and memorial day??
perhaps an IRAQ day for all the people that are suicide bombed and our soldiers that are STILL fighting for freedom
if you want to care, that's fine, but please don't get up on someone else who decided to try to do something nice, no matter how late.
Better late than never as the saying goesComment

RE: Re: RE: Remember 9/11
Okay, guys, while it's true that british does make some pretty irritating threads, let's not mar this one with antagonizing comments. He does have a point -- it is an important day, and we should be taking a moment or two to remember those lost.
If you don't like the guy, get over it. I don't think this is the place to bitch at him.
EDIT: dont beat me to it.Comment

Shouldn't we be remembering the people lost in 9/11 everyday of our lives and not just on one day of the year. Seems pointless to devote just one day to it.Originally posted by SynthlightI am retiring from SM as of right now. I am sick of beating you all with my perfect triple hamstrings and AAAAAA's. I have nothing more to accomplish.

because if we did that, everyday would be devote to remembering another 15,00 people dieing,
the exact number of people dieing a day is probably more, but ya know www.wikipedia.com is too far awayComment

The only thing I ever remember from this is that the media just wouldn't shut up.
They didn't air a Simpson's episode for three weeks. That pissed me off so badly.
And no, I'm dead serious. You'd think there wouldn't be anything to cover after the first day or so. But no. Three weeks. And everytime it was some noob reporter telling me the same news I heard since the day it happened. Nothing new. Nothing interesting. Nothing I cared about.
It was about that time I gave up television forever. I guess something good came from it.
