Quicktime took over my internets :<

Okay, here's the situation. You know the problem with Quicktime not working correctly with Firefox (ytmnd)? Well, I thought I had a solution by enabling control to Quicktime using the program's MIME settings. You can access them by opening Quicktime and going to Edit>Preferences>middle choice out of the 3 (don't remember what it's called). Go to Browser and at the bottom click MIME settings.

Well, I enabled all of them, and it still didn't work. So, I'm browsing along one day, and I go to play FFR. The broken quicktime logo appears where FFR should be.

WTF? Since when does Quicktime control Flash instead of Macromedia? So I go to MIME settings and deselect everything, apply, close, restart firefox. Doesn't work. I uninstall Quicktime, and now it comes up with a message:

I've tried reinstalling firefox, reinstalling Flash Player 7, everything. Nothing works. I have to use IE to view any Flash movie/game now.

I really need to get this to work; I'm close to using IE because the message appears on every page with a flash item. Help! :<

Same thing happen with me once, but I forget what I did. I think you might have to go to the quicktime preferences and uncheck everything, also download a swf file somewhere and right click>open with>firefox and check the box that says do this always.

@tny: I'm willing to bet uninstalling Quicktime won't do it, and that it leaves its preference cache or whatever lying around like a slut. You should check lib and pref files for any apple contamination.

          PS Clear you cache lol.

Same thing's happened to my PC, ever since my brother installed Trillian to use... He then goes off to college later that week. It's REALLY annoying and I would like to get this fixed also. Tried uninstalling, clearing cache, removing the reg keys from the registry, nothing works.

I dunno what to do about the Quicktime problem.. Try looking for leftover shit like Fish said, and if that doesn't work, try reinstalling Quicktime. Maybe it'll then go back to how it was before.

ps NEW FFR SONG CLEAR YOU CACHE YAH

I have had quicktime problems before. First, destroy all program associations. I had to have WMP, WinAmp, and Cool Edit re-take things that quicktime had a hold of, yet couldnt play.

Sounds like you already redownloaded flash and shockwave, but try to take back all program associations.
