    Goin' into surgery.

I'll be going into surgery next Saturday. It'll be Tommy-John Surgery. I tore my ulnar collateral ligament during baseball practice on Wednesday. After my surgery, I'll begin my rehabilitation so I can restart on throwing a baseball. It'll be a long time before I can get on after my surgery, rehab, and introduction into the season...again. I will still be here but not after next, not this, Saturday. Peace out and hope I make it threw the surgery.

If you do not know Tommy-John Surgery works, click on the link below then click on "How the Tommy John surgery works," which is under BEYOND WORDS to the right.

    RE: Goin

well that sucks, but its weird coming from a basketball practice. It usually happens to baseball pitchers who pitch at like 95 every 5th day every summer for like 10 years, then they need it.
Either way good luck to you

EDIT: nvm, my eyes have serious issues with reading <_<

        RE: Goin

I find this amusing, considering young baseballs players DO tear their arms up and need the surgery, but only if they have idiot coaches who force them to throw tons of offspeed pitches that put alot of stress on ones elbow. Or, y'know... if the kid themself forces it upon himself.

I have good knowledge into this, as I was an All-Star pitcher for 4 years, had pitching lessons for 3, etc etc.

From what I know, its around 1 year for a strong recovery from TJ surgery, and your arm is actually in better condition than before.
        RIP

Chicken, it was baseball practice, not b-ball.

Usually your arm gets stronger from Tommy John. Good luck.

"Oh no, I destroyed my arm with repetitive motion while playing a testosterone-driven sport for the sole purpose of attempting to fit into the misguided American popular culture. I guess I had better spend years in physical therapy and waste huge amounts of time learning how to do this again."

That is what I am getting from your post.

That's a pretty unknowlegable view there Moogy. Plenty of people play for other reasons then just trying to "fit in". Enjoy competition, winning, physical acitivty etc. Not everyone lives on the computer.

Hope you return to play soon.

Everyone should start fighting for sport. There seems to be less serious injuries that go along with it. I am in A Mixed Martial Arts fighting club that hosts "prize" fights about twice A month. I haven't gotten seriously hurt yet, and it's tons of fun.

Different people react differently to anesthesia. I know my friend's brother woke up crying. Some people can't remember what happened before or after they were put to sleep(I had no idea what happened before I was knocked out. The last thing I remember was the doctor asking if I thought I was starting to feel drowsy).
