Some day in August, i'm not quite sure which one. Mars will be able to be seen off to the right of the moon and will look very close. Meteorologists claim that it hasn't happened in 19 million years and won't happen again for another 19 million years. So don't miss it. Oh yeah, discuss whatever there is about this topic to discuss.

Every now and then you can see mars and venus near the moon. Every couple of months...not 19 million years.Comment

No, no, no. What's happening is that Mars is moving closer to the Earth than it has been and will again for the next 60,000 years during the month of August. It will be biggest near the end of August, where it will be roughly equivalent in size and detail to the moon.Comment

Q, This did happen last year. I was in Niagra Falls when it happened. You never know though, maybe it will happen again.

Come on guys... Check it out for yourselves from NASA
Who would know better?...
Here are the facts: Earth and Mars are converging for a close encounter this year on October 30th at 0319 Universal Time. Distance: 69 million kilometers. To the unaided eye, Mars will look like a bright red star, a pinprick of light, certainly not as wide as the full Moon.
Disappointed? Don't be. If Mars did come close enough to rival the Moon, its gravity would alter Earth's orbit and raise terrible tidesComment

RE: Come on guys... Check it out for yourselves from NASA
Funny, because I love how everyone was flipping out last year saying "Mars is as close to Earth as it ever will be for a bajillion years!!!" But I guess they were a year off when they made that prediction and hoped no one would notice if they said it again.
F*cking scientists.Comment
