    "Iron" Mike Tyson lost...

I decided to pay the couple hundred dollars to go to the Tyson fight last night and was severely dissapointed. Not only did he lose to a journeyman, but he quit. I knew the only reason he fought the fight was because he needed to pay a few bills. ( He is 30,000,000$ in debt.) But I didn't think he would quit. The only thing that stopped me from pouring beer on him as he left was the fact that he was brutally honest after the fight. He said:

"I would like to appologize to all of my fans for dissapointing them tonight. I knew coming into this fight that it would be my last fight. I just don't have the heart or the stomach for this sport anymore. I just don't care anymore. I just needed to pay my bills. I just don't have the same skill as I did 10 years ago. I know that any currency I had with my fans is now gone. I won't take anything away from my opponent, he is truly a gifted boxer. I just wish I could have faced him 10 years ago."

I would also like to add that Leila Ali kicked the crap out of some chick earlier on that evening. Her father Muhamad was also at the fight. One thing I found funny is something he said to Tyson before his fight started.

" I may not be able to move very fast now, and my eyes and brain don't work so well, but I can still tell that you are the baddest MF'er."

That is all I have to say. It was a sad day in the world of professional boxing.

I never did like Tyson, personally...
So I've gone completely slack-ass and haven't done any work on creating games. =(

In less-depressing news, I got a job for an online business (which sells non-electronic games, of all things!) which has taught me a lot about marketing online and all that jazz.

So now I'm on Twitter @NoahWright.
And I write the blog for their website.

Plus I do cool programming in-house that you'll never see. =O

Should have poured beer on him.

After spitting in the cup first, of course.

I'm sick of the notion that you should be hailed a hero after repenting for a massively boneheaded decision.

Tyson was one of the best boxers ever if you knew anything about his career. You might question his personal issues but he was one of the greatest boxers. Anyone who has seen his fights from the late 80s and up to the late 90s would know that. He's just getting too old for it now.

Personally, I think he should have started singning his long-winded confession to the tune of a song from Fiddler on the Roof.

SMGod, my dad was watching ESPN Classics the other day, and Tyson was on there. A fight in Japan from 1990, where he lost right after beating all the champions and becoming the world heavyweight champ. He was on his downswing from greatness, but I was very impressed.

However, that doesn't change the fact that I don't like him as a person.

I don't hail him as a hero. I will now think of him as a puss. I just felt sorry for him. I didn't really like him as a person, but I loved his attitude as a boxer.

Tyson is one of the greatest boxers of all time. His career went downhill.. So what, whos doesn't? After a long enough period of time staying in any sport nobody can keep up with there own MVP days. Just look at his timeline. http://boxing.about.com/od/records/a/tyson_timeline.htm . Thats everything you need to know about this guy.

You might be able to argue that you don't like him, but you can't argue that he was a phenominal fighter.

The most amusing part of all this was Pardon The Interruption's Five Good Minutes segment last Friday, where the guest was some pro-Tyson boxing guy who kept talking about how the heavyweight division sucks now and that it was an insult to Tyson that he had to fight guys like this.
I watched clouds awobbly from the floor o' that kayak. Souls cross ages like clouds cross skies, an' tho' a cloud's shape nor hue nor size don't stay the same, it's still a cloud an' so is a soul. Who can say where the cloud's blowed from or who the soul'll be 'morrow? Only Sonmi the east an' the west an' the compass an' the atlas, yay, only the atlas o' clouds.

He was indeed a phenominal boxer in his glory days.

Well, it's like Pete Rose to a certain extent. Rose was the argueable the best hitter ever, but, his off-the field shananigans got him banned from the game. People may not like his personality, but they can't take away from his legacy PLAYING baseball.

Same goes for Tyson. While biting a man's ear off, and numerous media and personal problems, Tyson was one of the best boxers ever on the canvas. I would so love to watch him fight the likes of Ali, Frazier, Marciano, Liston, while he was at his prime. Tyson was the most feared boxer ever, and that's how I will remember him, not the person who was too old to finish a fight. I mean, come on, if you were in his situatin and you owed that much money, I know that I would go out there for a little cash, and to let myself know that it is over.

Jordan did the same thing too, people hated it when he went to Washington. They didn't want him to ruin his legacy, but as he said "I can accept defeat, but I can't accept not trying". He wanted to see if he had anything left, so there wouldn't be any what if's, Tyson did the same thing, and I think he should be remembered for the great things he did for boxing during a dying era, being one of the most feared men in the world.

I don't think its at all like Pete Rose. There's a vast difference between the crap tyson pulled and the crap rose pulled. Also, saying "Professional Boxing" nowadays is a complete oxymoron, and anyone that things otherwise is idiotic. The sport has completely tanked, there are 500 different belts, no one will face the best fighter because people don't like his style and they know they can't beat him. Byrd is one of the most unique fighters there's been in 8 years, and no one will ever know about him. Also, Tyson is nowhere near the best, and his fights wern't the best, although they were decent. Ali-Frazier series is still the best set of fights ever. Hell, I'd even say Marciano was better then tyson, althoguh its hard to compare

I heard that he is coming back to try to become the Heavyweight Champian.....that is if they let him fight again.
