Personally, I think Marilyn Manson is rather smart. I've only seen a few interviews with him, but the comments he made were very wise. And I've only read a few pages of his book, but the excerts that I have read were very clever.

To your second question:

He is making millions being in a Satanic industrial band...wouldnt that be considered "the business of spreading Satanism"? And besides, he is only a member of the Satanic religion because it is the opposite of Christianity, not because he worships the Devil (a common misconception of Satanism).

Manson is an idiot.

He apologizes for his showmanship by claiming that no one should take him seriously, but when people quite obviously do, it's time to stop taking yourself seriously if you don't want the burden to rest on yourself for corrupting people.

Aside from removing some of his ribs to suck his own dick, he seemed to act fairly intellectual in Bowling for Columbine.

If I really had my ribs removed, I would have been busy sucking my own dick on the Wonder Years instead of chasing Winnie Cooper. I wouldn't have sucked other peoples dicks on stage, either. I would have been sucking my own. Plus, who really has time to be killing puppies when you can be sucking your own dick? I think I'm gonna call the surgeon in the morning.

And, yes, Marilyn Manson is a genius. Why? He has completely mesmerized a "counter-culture" (I really don't want to grant goths that title). He sells records, merchandise, concert tickets. He influences people to dress a certain way, to "rebel" against the norm, to believe (or claim to believe) certain things. He's made millions off these losers.
