My Dilemma

I should probably start at the beginning. My best friend Dawn got taken out of her home in the past year because she has piece-of-crap, worthless, abusive parents, and she is now living with these people who have about 11 foster children. A little over two months ago, her and I were hanging out and we saw one of her friends, Mike, who went back to my house with us. Well, now I'm dating Mike, and this relationship is the most PERFECT thing that has ever happened to me, and he could not have come at a better time. I was really depressed, and my grades were falling, you know the sob story, I don't need to give it to you. WELL, I found out that one of my friend Dawn's "foster sisters" is pressing charges against Mike for "forcing her hand to his genitals" which from what I understand is a big fat load of BS. They were in the hallway in school and he was telling her that no he didn't want to go out with her (he was holding her hands) and she stomped off in a strange direction, a scenario which I have run through several times with several different people, and in every case, the hand brushed against the pants. Besides that, he's not a very forceful person. Not only did he respect my wishes, but when it did get to that point, it was my decision, and I had total control. Plus considering it's Alana [skank] I would be really surprised if she were telling the truth. Anyway, even if he did do it, I really don't care, I am over it. The issue lies more in the punishment than the behavior. Yesterday morning he had court, it was the end-all-be-all of this whole mess, and he told me that if he didn't call me by 9, I could assume he wasn't coming back. Well he didn't call yesterday, so I called franctically (every 30 seconds) until Lou (his dad) picked up the phone. I got the story from him, and Mike is in jail, for 6 months. He gets out in October. OCTOBER! And now I'm not allowed to talk to Dawn, because Alana found out I'm dating Mike, and she told Mary, the "mother", who set down the rule that Dawn is disallowed association with me. So now all at once I've lost my boyfriend and my life-long best buddy. I mean we've been pals since 1st grade. So here's the real dilemma. Do I stick around and wait on my ever growing posterior eating ice cream and wishing Mike was around, or do I just forget about him and move on?

Firstly, if he is worth waiting for and you trust that he has done nothing wrong, then wait and plus you can still visit right ? It may be a consolation prize but some contact is better than nothing. Also, no one can stop your friend Dawn from seeing you or at least keeping in touch (email, txt, msn etc), until things cool down or you are old enough to leave home (to uni or whatever) when they have no say over who she is friends with.
It seems wierd that so many other people saw what happened, didn't see him doing anything wrong and yet he was still found guilty. But i suppose that it would have been hard to prove either way and in many cases (as far as i have heard) favour goes to the complantant (Dawn's foster-sister).
Personally i think 6 months is very harsh and i feel sorry for everyone involved but I guess for now you just have to live with what happened. Unless you can get everyone who saw to sign a joined statement of what happened and present it to the court in an appeal hearing or something. I don't know if that would get your boyfriend out of jail but possibly worth a try. I have no clue what the laws are like over there but if there are enough people who saw the occurance, the possibility that he is innocent cannot be ignored by a court.

move on... I knew Mikes was going to lose that case when you first mentioned it. Guys always get the shit end of the deal when it comes to that. Anyway, forget about Mike, there will be others. Try and get in contact with your best friend, if thats a 100% failed attempt try making new friends and just wait for he to become available again to reunite with her.

(ps. don't write in blue, black is the best color for typing and if you continue it the majority of the people here won't like you.)

the only person who saw what happened was one of mike's friends who thought he was with a white girl, and alana is by no standards white. yeah it seems a little harsh, but this is oakland county, michigan, the most harsh county in the us when it comes to sexual misconduct.

ps. I won't do the color thing anymore. It was a one time thing, I just wanted to see how it looked.

Firstly, I suggest don't ask anyone from FFR. People who play finger DDR all day probably don't have the best people skills.

Do whatever you feel is right, but whatever you do, do it confidently, no regrets. Regrets will eat you alive. 6 months is harsh for what was accused, it's not like he raped her or anything.
