ACTUALLY, there has been one case where there was born a fertile Liger. So who knows what could happen. Maybe one day another will come and people will start to breed ligers. That would be sweet.

Yes, but that is as uncommon as a sterile tiger or a sterile lion; they happen occasionally, but they would have to go through hundereds of li(y?)gers.

There are tigons too, they are from the opposite sexual pairing of a lion and tiger.

Tigons are very, very rare, because they are much harder to breed for.

eh.. it the opposite of the Liger combination. Instead of the mother tiger father lion, its a mother lion father tiger. Not really harder to breed for, I wouldn't think. But Tigons don't get to be as big as a Liger, Yes the correct spelling is L-I-G-E-R., so they aren't really as important to me.

They are much harder to breed, actually.

Tigons are very rare; only a few exist in the world, and even those are only held by private owners. This is because it is much more difficult to get the male tiger to mate with the female lion. Tigons look similar to ligers. They have varying stripes and spots. Tigons are also orangish in color. Male offspring may have a mane, but will be very modest. They are able to produce both lion and tiger sounds when they roar. One difference between tigons and ligers is their size. Tigons are not nearly as large as ligers. In fact, tigons are often times smaller than both of their parents. The lifespan of tigons, as well as other hybrid animals, is shorter than a normal species. The animals seem prone to cancers and other illnesses.

There are both Ligers and Tigons, depending on which species is male and which is female.

It is infertile, though. So you don't see them except a very few in a very few zoos.

It's pretty much my favorite animal. It's a mix between a lion and a tiger, bred for it's skills in magic.

Although I hate the movie, I guess they are real.


My sister went down to go visit and look at a college and I guess they had a zoo nearby that had Ligers, and she got pictures of them.
