At this moment, I am folding 1001 cranes for a special celebration held at my church (I am buddhist in case you are wondering...). My fingers ache, my eyes hurt, but I still have around 500 cranes to fold...
Whew! Has anyone ever folded 1001 cranes for a Japanese wedding or for good luck?

It'll look great when your done, and think of that your doing it for your Buddhist god/dess. I don't know Buddhism...like...at all...so I don't know what you believe in, but just think of that.

I think the cranes are more for the seniors that go to the church...
Then they can all say (In Japanese of course!) "Wow! What a beautiful piece..."
I don't know what they are doing with the cranes...
I think they are going to glue them together and make a flower or something like that...
I'm not all that serious about buddhism...
It is just something that occupies my life...

Maybe they'll save that little girl that was in the book, "Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes". She totally kicked the bucket before they finished, but those stupid kids finished anyways! You know it isn't going to bring her back, or even take her cancer away in heaven. Dumb kids and their naivety.

I thought that book was sad...
The one where the city was bombed and the girl ended up with cancer and she was folding cranes in the hospital...
that was a sad moment...
Oh well, I'm folding the cranes for fun and for my church, not for good luck... I don't think...

PS: My uncle was a speed-crane folder. He's in the Guiness book of World Records for folding the most cranes in ten seconds. He folded sixty. You do the math, son.

I've only folded one paper crane....and I remember how much trouble I had...although I was pressured to do it perfectly because the Japanese Foreign Exchange Teacher was teaching me and I was somewhat attracted to her and at the same time frightened by her because I didnt want to come across as the "stupid American who is too big and dumb to fold tiny paper cranes." Damn, that was an awkward moment.

ToshX, Buddhism is a non-thesitic religion, thus they do not worship a 'God' or 'Goddess.'
