As you may have noticed, I haven't been on lately. That's because, for some unknown reason, my computer lost the ability to connect to the internet about a week ago. I'm on my dad's computer right now, because I'm really stumped. This is the situation:
We have a Linksys router and two computers. One of them (this one) is hard-wired to the router, and the other (mine) is wirelessly connected via a USB network adapter from Linksys as well. This computer can connect, but the other one cannot. The weirdest thing, though, is that the wireless computer can connect to the network, but not the Internet. I can ping the router, but not any websites. So, I ran a test. I disconnected the ethernet cord from this computer and connected the wireless adapter to it, in order to rule where the problem was.
I could connect.
So, it's a problem with my computer. I tried running an AVG virus scan, running Spybot S&D, updating the firmware of the router, reinstalling and updating drivers, and I have the Linksys folks stumped. They suggested refreshing my TCP/IP stack, but they said I would need to contact Microsoft for instructions on how to do this. It's apparently not listed on their website, and since I have an OEM version of windows, assistance costs $35.00.
Do you guys have any ideas? I really miss my compie =(
