So, one of my teammates told us a great story this morning: Last night she was walking home from one of the men's dorms, when she passed a "large-ish black man in a hoodie." He looked at her as she walked by and said, "Hey, I like your boots." A little weirded out by his enthusiasm, she thanked him and kept going. A few steps later and she hears, "Hey..." She turns around, and there is the man in the hoodie. He tells her, "You look familiar." She's not comfortable being around the guy, so she just keeps going. He says, "No, wait, I go here," and produces a card the color of our school's student IDs, but she doesn't care to get a close look, she just keeps walking. He runs up beside her and says, "You look really familiar. I'm going to give you a dollar. Let me give you a dollar to lick your boots."
So, my teammate, very freaked out, tells the man no and hurries to her dorm. She tells the girl working at the front desk, who tells the dorm mom, who calls campus security, who conduct an extensive college police investigation. They tell her they don't think the man is a student, and that he's from Virginia. Hurray for Campus Security.
What's even scarier is that last semester a large-ish black man asked one of my roommates if he could lick her boots at a party.

At least I think I remember that's how it happened. In any case, our hall director and RAs encouraged us to lock our doors when we leave the room and to not let strangers in.
