    Why do you stay here?

I've been here for a little over a year now, and I've begun to develop an "internet life", if you will. For the past couple of weeks, I've been trying to figure out why I am on the damned computer so much. I've realized that it's because I have developed friends over the internet, and I rather enjoy going to these forums. I hate to say it...but we are a family. Much like a sports team could be a family, or a band could be a cult, whatever. This is just more in a nerdish kind of way, I guess.(This also goes back to The Q's topic about us being a Clique)

But I've also tried to figure out WHY I come here. I know I have friends on here, but is that enough to keep me on the PC and away from RL all of the time?

And that's when it hit me. That's what I'm trying to do. Get away from RL. I have a life outside of the internet, but I've grown annoyed with it. I don't know if it is the same for you, but there is an incredible amount of DRAMA. I hate it, I don't understand why we can't deal with each without purposely causing stress.

Also, like many of you, I've developed my own 'clique', in real life. And I have begun to dislike almost everybody in that(ok, let's just say it), THE BAND. I love my friends outside of band, but society refuses to let me stay out of my (cult)clique. Everybody(save two) that I have gotten to become friends with(in the band, mind you), are so immature, and just annoying in general. There are other things going on in my personal life, but I really don't want to disclose this information.

Ever since the beginning of this school year, I've realized that I literally can't WAIT to go to college. Meet new people. And I've realized that that is exactly what I want. To meet new people. And that is exactly why I stay on the computer all the time. To meet new people-and to stay away from the old.

EDIT: Heh...I forgot to even ask what I was going to ask. Why do you stay here? Is it the dame reason as mine? Or are you just bored all of the time, and really have nothing else to do?

    Educate me.

RE: Why do you stay here?

I used to stay here in the hopes I'd be modded one day.

Those days are passed. Now I stay here because I'm bored and have no real reason to leave.

EDIT: Oh yeah, and presidential duties and such. Whatever.
I watched clouds awobbly from the floor o' that kayak. Souls cross ages like clouds cross skies, an' tho' a cloud's shape nor hue nor size don't stay the same, it's still a cloud an' so is a soul. Who can say where the cloud's blowed from or who the soul'll be 'morrow? Only Sonmi the east an' the west an' the compass an' the atlas, yay, only the atlas o' clouds.

        IMPEACH!!!

Anyway, I stay because it's fun here. There really isn't much difference in hanging out, chatting with your IRL friends than hanging out at a computer, chatting with your internet friends. Plus, forums are a great place for lots of ideas to come about to discuss, and everyone loves sharing their ideas.

As I've said in previous threads of similar questions, it's because this is a place where I can talk with people that share similar interests.

This is the first forum I've found with awesome people that enjoy video games as much or moreso than I do.

Umm it was the first forum I ever talked on, I enjoyed it and now I've become addicted to it. And yes FFR is sort of a family for me.

One which you virtually abandoned about a year ago and only have loose ties to now.

People in the chat tell me I'm hot. Vanity = stuffed.

                End of story.

For me it's just an addicting thing to do on the internet
But, it feels that almost all the people on here have most of the same interests
and such and would actually make a pretty good clique in real life. So that's what
makes it hard to leave. But If someone does and doesn't announce it, some
people wouldn't notice for a while

I know I don't really come on here much, but the reason I spend a lot of time (though I do have a life, and frankly can't relate to 'cliques') on the internet is because of my friends. And also, there's like, a little sense of accomplishment on some MMOs, like when you start from a newbie, and then BAM! You destroy the strongest of monsters.

                    I guess that's why I stay.

I stay because I still play DDR, SM, and sometimes FFR. Around where I live not many people share the same interests as I do. I came to this forum knowing that there are many others that do. FFR has become somewhat of a home to me now, I'm online all the time and talk to many on here.

I probably won't leave FFR for quite a while.

I came here because I was like "OMGZ ITZ LIEK DDR...BUT ITZ NOT DDR!" Then I started to get to know some people and talked with them on MSN, and these conversations keep me pretty entertained on a boring friday night. Plus, it's always nice talking to people on the internet. Why? Because you don't have to worry about gossip, peer pressure, popularity, or anything you'd have to face in school life. You can tell anyone about almost anything and you wouldn't have to worry about 1000+ people at your school finding out. I guess I rant alot to some of the people i talk to, but pretty much 99.9% of them are understanding enough to litsen and give advice (remaining 0.1% is qreepy boris who never makes the least bit of sense on AIM).
