It's Finals week for me. And as finals approach, and I have a bunch of semester-end projects due, I've realized (unfortunately) that I spend far too much time on FFR (and forums in general) - it's gotten to the point where it's an addiction, and it takes a great deal of effort to pry myself away from the computer and the Internet.
I'm at my university on scholarship, and if my GPA drops (possible cause: blowing finals), I'm going home. Period. I love FFR, but I'm not willing to let an internet message board have a chance at jeopardizing my future.
Thus, I'm leaving for a week. I'm changing my passwords on here and other forums (BMS) to an incomprehensible string of numbers and letters I have written down, almost like a time capsule so I can come back after finals. In addition, I'm removing from my computer shortcuts to Gaim and Firefox, so I won't be tempted to try to hop back on to browse or otherwise find new ways to waste time. It sounds a tad extreme, but I want to be able to devote myself to studying 100%. And wasting time on the computer has become too powerful of an addiction.
Yes, it sucks, but so do most addictions. And if you, like me, spend 4+ hours on this site every day, go out and do something fun with 3 of those hours. You'll thank yourself for it.
I'm sure the rest of you moderators can hold down the fort while I'm gone.
You guys all rock. Wish me luck on Finals.
See you in a week,
Chardish
P.S. I call TWG VI
EDIT: LD informs me that he wants TWG VI also, I guess we're doing nominations again then.
