And IMO, you don't need a gig of RAM. Is it helpful? Sure. Is it worth the money? Yeah. Will you see performance boosts? Yup. But it's not neccessary yet. You can still get great performance with 512, it just depends on whether you're willing to plunk down the cash or not.Comment

I don't really like Athlons, but that seems like a good computer there. My mom and sister both just got new Dell's. I still have a pentium 3 p.o.s. I am saving up for a 240 gig hard drive, 17 inch LCD flat screen, or 19 inch if I find the money fast enough. My computer is cheap ass.

240 GB hard drive... I just don't see the point unless you want 100 movies and 50 different animes with every single episode saved on them.. or porn I guess. 80 GB has been fine for me, I have like 10 anime series, 1 with over 100 eps, others up to 50, plus a few movies, a bunch of games etc. I still have 25 GB left, and I don't see myself using it up anytime soon. Even if I did need it for some reason, I could easily see myself deleting an old anime that I never watch anymore, what's the point? :OOriginally posted by DataXUnknownI don't really like Athlons, but that seems like a good computer there. I'm still running on 256mb of ram... and considering games are requiring 512 now, they're working really well. :/Comment

BatonRogue writes "I didn't see this anywhere else, but it looks like Intel has quietly launched their Pentium 4 570J running at 3.8GHz. The J denotes Intel's Execute Disable Bit support, which they have also quietly introduced (it seems to save face of being 2nd to support it behind AMD). AnandTe...

LD loses.
QFE. I used to be an Intel fanboy, but I noticed how the Barton line, which is in the $90-130 range, rivals or bests medium to high end P4's which cost near $200. Plus, the horribly overpriced P4EE is considerably worse than the FX line from AMD (which is also less expensive). Also, AMD's tend to overclock better.Originally posted by Anticrombie0909Athlon > P4. IMO.

Uh, Tny, that site linked to an Anandtech review of the Intel 570J, which got massively owned.
Couldn't be more right.Originally posted by AnandtechRight now we couldn't be happier with AMD, they are more on top of their game today than they ever were with the Athlon XP and the Athlon 64 platform is by far the most attractive platform AMD has ever had. We've seen AMD offer leading performance in the past, but never have they commanded such a strong lead for such an incredible length of time.Comment
