How safe Internet Explorer really is...

Another reason to switch to FireFox.

A Microsoft Internet Explorer exploit represented the highest number of hacking attacks in the second quarter, according to figures from ScanSafe

    Story:

The London-based security company said that the No. 1 hack was Exploit.HTML.Mht, which attempts to download and install a malicious program on a computer by using a security breach in Microsoft's IE browser software. The exploit was used to target almost twice as many organizations as other exploits, ScanSafe said.

"One of the things we've been surprised at is the growth rate of threats," said Roy Tuvey, director of ScanSafe. "There's been a 15 percent rise every quarter, and the threat is really rising. The first thing exploited are browser vulnerabilities."

Twenty-one percent (21%) of virus attacks occurred on Wednesdays and 6 percent at the weekend, ScanSafe found. The managed Web security company said the reason was that most viruses were launched at weekends and spread during the week.

Researchers at ScanSafe said that while Trojan horses and worms posed a significant threat, exploits accounted for 19 percent of all attacks they saw. But spyware only made up 12 percent of the total.

So now im really going to stop making fun of all of you FireFox lovers and ask you now for the direct download link if possible to FireFox's latest version or the current one you are using, there is no way im sticking with IE for much longer if the attacks keep rising.

Mozilla is the not-for-profit behind the lightning fast Firefox browser. We put people over profit to give everyone more power online.

I think I love FireFox. Is it just me or do websites load quicker?

I think it's just you. Firefox is definitly the superior browser, though. <3 Not being invaded by spyware.

Firefox + Peer Guardian = win.

No, sometimes IE just likes to hang on websites. That is one of the main reasons I use Firefox..

But jeesh, another IE exploit, cool.

FireFox is many times faster than IE...I can't see why anyone would be using IE over FireFox

RE: How safe Internet Explorer really is...

Firefox fails at maintaining it's software up to the standards imposed by IE. Since IE is still the market standard Firefox needs to be built to function with as many websites as possible. I hate having to swtich to IE occasionally to do some things.

Oh and Firefox also has shitty graphics capabilities. It chokes with a lot of .gifs on the screen.

[/end soapbox to shut up the Firefox zealots]

But it's still better than IE.

I don't understand all this "Well, FireFox has a built-in popup blocker, take THAT, IE!!!11" business, because IE has a built in popup blocker, too. I know I don't get popups, either, so why is that a bonus for FF?

IE only has one in SP2, which is a worthless waste of time to download.
