RE: FIREFOX VERSION 1
better shiz.
Features:
Popup Blocking: Stop annoying popup ads in their tracks with Firefox's built in popup blocker.
Tabbed Browsing: View more than one web page in a single window with this time saving feature. Open links in the background so that they're ready for viewing when you're ready to read them.
Smarter Search: Google Search is built right into the toolbar, and there are a plethora of other search tools including Keywords (type "dict " in the Location Bar), and FastFind (start typing the first few letters of some text in the page and Firefox takes you there).
Privacy and Security: Built with your Security in mind, Firefox keeps your computer safe from malicious spyware by not loading harmful ActiveX controls. A comprehensive set of privacy tools keep your online activity your business.
Hassle-Free Downloading: Files you download are automatically saved to your Desktop so they're easy to find. Fewer prompts mean files download quicker.
Fits Like a Glove: Simple and intuitive, yet fully featured, Firefox has all the functions you're used to - Bookmarks, History, Full Screen, Text Zooming to make pages with small text easier to read, etc.
S, M, L or XL—You Choose: Firefox is the most customizable browser on the planet. Customize your toolbars to add additional buttons, install new Extensions that add new features, add new Themes to browse with style, and use the adaptive search system to allow you to search an infinite number of engines. Firefox is as big or small as you want.
Setup's a Snap: At only 4.7MB (Windows), Firefox only takes minutes to download over a fast connection. The installer gets you set up quickly, and the new Easy Transition system imports all of your settings - Favorites, passwords and other data from Internet Explorer and other browsers - so you can start surfing right away.
A Developer's Best Friend: Firefox comes with a standard set of developer tools including a powerful JavaScript and CSS error/warning console, and an optional Document Inspector that gives unheard of insight into how your pages work.
Read Mail - Not Spam: Thunderbird is the perfect complement to Firefox. More Information.
Changes in this version:
Live Bookmarks: You can now subscribe to and read RSS feeds in your Bookmarks. When you visit a page that advertises a RSS feed by using a tag, an [img=http://www.mozilla.org/images/rss.png] icon will appear in the status bar. Click it to view a list of feeds the page is offering. Click one to subscribe - this adds a Bookmark Folder that contains all the recent posts from the feed.
Improved Find: Find is easier and more powerful now with our new Find toolbar. The Find toolbar (which shows at the bottom of the browser window) automatically highlights text in the page as you type and has a useful highlight feature.
Managing Annoyances and Protecting Security: You can now open blocked popups, and the Extension install system now blocks all attempts to install software from sites other than update.mozilla.org. Users can add other sites to a list that allows them to offer software, but software is never automatically installed. In addition to these steps, several other measures have been taken to prevent phishing attacks and to highlight when a page is being viewed over a secure connection.
Better Bookmarks: Numerous improvements to bookmarks including more reliable presentation of Site icons, and a split pane view in the Bookmarks window.
Strong Encryption For Passwords Available: Passwords saved with the Password Manager can now be more easily encrypted with strong encryption by creating a "Master Password". If you create a Master Password, you are prompted once per session to enter the Master Password so that Password Manager can automatically fill in site logins. A useful feature for people who share computers with others and want improved security.
Improved Compatibility for IE users: Undetectable document.all support for site compatibility and improved compatibility for keyboard accelerators further smooth the transition for IE users
Plugin Finder Service: easily locate and install plug-ins required by a web page.
New keyboard shortcuts: Pressing Esc now stops image animations. Link modifiers now work in many places in the browser UI. For example, Ctrl+clicking the Home button opens your home page in a new tab. Search is now Ctrl+E. (Ctrl+K on Windows/Mac and Ctrl+J on Linux still work.)
And a horde of other bug fixes...

RE: FIREFOX VERSION 1
I'll use it exclusively if they ever move away from GTK (and this damned Gnome integration) and use QT. A truly native UI would also help. XUL and Chrome are slow, in my experience.
Until then, I will use Konqueror.hooray bsd-tanComment

RE: FIREFOX VERSION 1
LD, all of those things and more are in my version of Opera. And I hate a few things that Firefox does, so I'll be staying with Opera. I <3 Wand Passwords and AUTOMATIC disabling of animated gifs (OMG THNX 2 U OPERA) (None of this "esc" crap. It does it on its own). And of course Mouse Gestures are uber-fun.
So, does Mozilla still suck at downloading the FFR Simfiles? Opera just loves the FFR Simfiles section. I think they will be having their honeymoon in October. I don't know why...there's nothing good about October honeymoons...

RE: FIREFOX VERSION 1
Well let's see here. I see nothing that would even make me consider upgrading from whatever the fuck version of firefox I have now. There's no reason for me to switch to opera.. the only incentive there would be so I could download FFR Simfiles.. but I can't download those either way..
Soooo.... No.Comment
