Both my discord and steam accounts and only those accounts are compromised at the moment so I want to try to warn as many people that might be impacted by those accounts of which some are in social circles that read these forums.

The scam is someone with a compromised account asks you on discord to try out a friend's game who is trying to become an indie dev and you end up downloading something. It can be pretty convincing if your guard is down depending on who it comes from. In my case it came from a gamer relative I'm semi-close to.

Lol thanks. Hope no one else is getting scammed. It seems pretty small time at least fortunately. Always feels like shit (my 2nd time getting scammed over the years) when this happens.

Just heard the person who's account compromised me already got his discord back just now. He got got this morning

Does the link to the game follow a pattern of [insertgamename].blogspot.com ?

Just curious. I might have avoided a red flag if true.

Personally, the last scam I saw in DM was someone trying to make art for twitch emotes/banners/etc. and using some fake art website with AI generated stuff.
They would ask to be paid before doing it and I assume they would just peace out without doing it if you do pay.

Supplying a quick update:
Got my steam back the night of. Discord support has been garbage and they have yet to even lock the account and respond from 3 days ago. I joined on an alt with the username 'aweinstock999' (can add me). Joined servers I was in and asked people to remove the currently compromised account.

Minor annoyance more then anything. Steam was far more important and nothing else got compromised
